Protect Your Email AccountsThe world of Internet Email can be a confusing place at best, and potentially dangerous at worst. Any person can send email from any address without verification, even if it's not their own. Imagine dropping a letter off at a post office in New York with a fake return address in Los Angeles. The mail would arrive at its destination intact, but the recipient wouldn't know that the sender is fake. This can be very dangerous for your church. A common spam and virus
tactic is to send an email to Until recently, there wasn't much to do about this. However, we now have a comprehensive solution that will stop this problem in its tracks. It uses a technology called SPF to ensure that only legitimate messages are passed along to your users. It's a one-time $50 upgrade fee to install this onto your domain, and can be set up from here. Before setting this up, it's crucial that you ensure that your email users are set up correctly. Every user who is sending email from an address under your domain name using a POP mail client (Microsoft Outlook, Eudora, etc) must be set up to use our SMTP server to send mail. Here's how to set that up. Note that if you're only using our webmail upgrade, you're already set. From a technical standpoint, 100% of legitimate mail from your domain will be routed through our servers (using authentication!) for delivery. Spammers can't fake this. Any mail that they do try to send to an address at your domain will be also processed by our servers, and will be rejected since they came from an external source. This guarantees that 100% of your legitimate messages will be passed through, and 100% of forged messages will be dropped. < Back to Upgrades...
