New File Manager

Posted on Wed, Feb 1, 2006:

ThisChurch now offers a state-of-the-art file manager. Click for more information.

The biggest new feature is the vastly improved interface. The layout is similar to Windows Explorer, with a graphical tree on the left. On the right pane, you can make changes to existing files and folders, as well as creating new ones.

Another big new feature is nested folders. You can create folders within folders, and they now correspond to actual physical directories on the file path.

Each file now has two additional properties. One is a flag of whether you'd like it templated (HTML files only), and the other specifies who can view the file. In other words, you can upload files that are only visible to logged-in users, to members of a given group, or to administrators only.

This change is reverse compatible. There's a new format for URLs - only one option, since the template preference is specified in the properties form. Old URLs have been preserved. There is no need to go back and update old links.

Please let us know if you run into any bugs with the upgrade. Thanks!
